DVD drives, on the other hand, still carry the longest lifespan if they are used and preserved carefully. Blu-ray disks can carry 50-100 GB of data, and they can only be written with the help of an optical drive that supports Blu-ray burners. Optical drives can still be bought separately and attached to a desktop computer, but for laptops, you need to get portable drives that can be powered through USB and an external adaptor.
