Discs are no longer used to save data as they have been completely replaced by spinning hard disks, as well as NVMe SSDs. The main reason for this replacement is their capacity. They can write 700mb of data, which is nothing compared to SSDs these days. Softwares need a larger capacity. As time passed, many updates have been added, and even the smallest professional software is more than 1GB. If you are a designer, then you may know that design softwares requires at least 5 GB of storage to install the program and 10-15GB extra disk space to run them smoothly. All softwares generates many different files and auto backs up the files. This also leads to extra space. Hard disks are the only solution. However, if you are working in an office and only work on softwares such as Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, then you can write your data on DVDs as these software files are small in size.
