Z-fold naturally folds in the reader’s hand and this is the main reason companies prefer z-fold over tri-fold brochure. Z-fold should be used to display large photos and text. You can even play with charts and infographic elements, and insert maps if there is a requirement. At the same time, it is easier for the designer to play around with text and images and there is no need to worry about the size of each panel as all panels are of the same size, unlike tri-fold and gate-fold.
You can use either an 8.5 x 11 inches size or the larger size that is 8.5 x 14 inches. It simply depends on the content and how much extra space you need to have for design elements.
