A laptop is always a better choice than a desktop, though desktop computers are capable of doing much more than a laptop, and you may find them more upgradable over time. So which one to choose? Many times we do not do heavy work, and 90 percent of the work is lighter unless you are a 3D animator. You can manage everything with a new M4 or M5 without buying the Pro version. If you have to work on heavy 3D or video editing files on daily basis, you can use both computers simultaneously by using the option of network rendering. If you are working on Blender, you can set up render farming and distribute rendering over your home network. This allows you to use both machines at the same time and reduce the rendering time. Having a MacBook is more important than a desktop computer.
