It is not recommended to clean the ear by using Q-tips. They are recommended for applying cosmetics, topical medicine on wounds, cleaning infants’ ears from wetness, and using them in crafts. Cotton buds are used in the wrong way by many of us as we push the wax while cleaning our ears and this can result in many ear-related issues such as infection and even vertigo. If you have filled up wax then you should consider visiting ENT and request them to clean your blocked ears. Cotton buds are not used for cleaning the ear wax. You may clean the wet outer layer of the ear. You can also use them to clean the nose of the infant if it is blocked.
