I have single-handedly managed, delivered, and designed 500+ packaging. Dozens of creative campaigns and print projects. After working on so many projects, there are many things I would like to mention. The first and most important aspect of the design process is drafting. You should always have a draft book along your side. Start by visualizing and creating something on paper, shape it, reshape it, and get involved in the process. You will come up with something unique. The second most important aspect of creation is a skillful hand; if you are skilled in software, you can create without boundaries. Design flows in your hand naturally, so you should always learn every possible tool and how to use it, and when to use it. The third important factor is understanding the color and choosing the colors that do not cause problems in printing. If any of your color on the packaging design is made with all 4 tones CMYK, then convert and make it into 2-3 tones, or if it is too important, then use Pantone instead so it can be printed separately.
