I have never encountered as many bread types as in the country of “Turkiye.” After visiting it for the first time, I was served with the bread named “Ekmek,” which is basically the Turkish word for bread. There are many other breads widely available in bread and confectionery shops. They are named Simit (bagel), Pogca (a small soft bun bread), Baget (baguette), Pede (a large size bread mostly served in the month of Ramadan), Yufka (paper-thin bread), Lavaş (soft, usually round roti), Bazlama (village flatbread), Gozleme (a thick, round, oily bread), and Tandır Ekmeği, which is also a type of basic bread eaten with meals. There must be many, but I have tried all of them above. The most delicious were simit and simple pogca.
