For landscape only video games need to be taken care of. Most video games are made horizontally, so the whole space of the screen is used, and all the elements take the maximum space. This allows the game designer to play freely on the canvas and design the game accordingly. Landscape is also preferred for softwares because most of them have many tools on the left, top, and right side of the screen; using them in landscape is much easier than in portrait view.
