Two days ago, my laptop didn’t turn on, and I was extremely worried about the data on the laptop. I can buy a laptop today, but the data saved in the main drive of the operating system can’t be accessed. After turning on, I was continuously receiving a missing operating system error, and I couldn’t figure out the main problem. I had to check the boot for any sequence or read all the RAMs and hard disk detection. I troubleshooted the RAM and hard disk, and everything was fine. After changing the boot sequence, the operating system showed some signs of entering the system. This made me hopeful that there is no problem with the motherboard.
After waiting for 15-20 minutes, the login screen came up, but everything was opening at the speed of a snail. I felt like someone handed me over the Pantium 1. After opening the main drive, there was one drive missing, and I could not open it. This was my internal extra HDD, which was unresponsive. I shut down the computer immediately, took out the battery for safety, opened it, and an extra HDD was there to be taken out. Screwed the lids back in and Boom, everything worked better than before. So, the culprit was a bad HDD.
It is residing on my desk now. It is a Toshiba brand 1TB HDD and was manufactured on 20th Feb 2015. It is more than 10 years and 6 months old, and I think this was the main reason it suddenly stopped working. Now the next step is to recover the data, and I will soon update in some article. When it comes to durability and longevity MacBook Pro should be the first choice as it works for more than a decade without any trouble.
