In the printing industry, there are many types of papers and finishes. After full-color printing, a varnish is applied to the printed paper so the ink does not smudge or smear and becomes permanent on the paper. This varnish also protects the colors and provides shine which is usually unnoticeable. On the other hand, if you are looking for a glossy print then you need to ask for a finishing which is called shine printing or reflective printing. You can also ask for the matte which is much duller and provides a darker surface to the printing paper. There are a few more finishes that can also be applied to the printing paper and these are foil printing, metallic printing, and UV printing that provide shining on the specific areas of the paper.
