To understand how the folds are made we should first know the available components and the process. Fold and cutting in the packaging industry are made with a punching die. So what exactly is a die?
It is a wooden board used to cut and shape packaging by punching it hard on paper. Before the die-cutting process, an outline is generated for cut lines, fold lines, bleed lines, and safe zones. This guideline is given to the dying company which starts constructing the wooden punching die with the given guideline. There are tiny blades for cutting and shaping residing underneath the wooden board so the die-cutting process does not jiggle and accurate cutting and folding are made with precision. All these blades for folding flaps and cutting flaps are made by the dye makers. This whole process takes time and multiple cuttings can be done by using these cutting and folding punching dies.
