Let me share my experience of what I usually read on the streets and what attracts me. I had worked for a company that used to run outdoor campaigns nationwide and citywide. My eyes are quite critical based on designs, and I can easily find flaws in outdoor campaigns and even writings. When I see an advertisement, my first look at the design is not reading it, I see things from an art director’s perspective. I see the balance of the design first and then read the text. Does it complement the visual, or is it just forcefully added? The successful campaign designs speak to the audience. It attracts, and the head turns to look at it again and sometimes makes to glee. If the passerby has read the advertisement, that means you have a win-win situation. Design and copy should be convincing, and a certain amount of guidance is required in the design.
