Bank cards are important to have while travelling. You should at least have a universal master card to use while moving around. Recently, I visited Doha, Qatar, and I wanted to buy something for $130, but at that time, I only had some local cards that worked only in my country, and I realized it was a bad mistake. I should have had a card that can work out of the country. However, I asked one of friend to pay, and then I gave them the local currency.
Bank cards are usually of three types: One is used for local transactions and takes the money from your bank, 2nd type is used for international transactions, and the third one is used for both national and international transactions, but the money initially is paid by the bank, and then you give the money back to the bank in installments.
