Many designers are avoiding 3D softwares and they believe that hiring a 3D artist is better than learning 3D. It is a personal preference, but here is the catch. If you hire a 3D artist, you need to pay him or her hourly, and you may not get the desired look or angle. It may take you a lot of time in conversation to make him understand, or you will be convinced of whatever he is good at. The uniqueness will not come until you dive into it and create things on your own. 3D softwares can be overwhelming in the beginner, as you have the habit as a designer to work on a single artboard, seeing 4 of them at the same time, and adjusting things from all angles can be a daunting task initially.
Everything takes time, and your time in 3D will not only teach you many different aspects of design, but also you will be able to learn to control the camera and lighting that you will always love and enjoy. 3D softwares have many different tools and options. There is no need for you to learn them all. Once you are comfortable with modeling and creating what you need, then you may start working on other models similar to the one you already created, and gradually you will get used to the interface and the tools. If in the future you need to switch to animation, then it won’t be too much trouble. Self learning is a long-distance relationship. You have to stay committed. Longer becomes shorter in a matter of time.
