To protect a rare book there are many different ways. Some libraries cover them with a plastic sheet but most of the books are covered with dust jackets. The main point over here is protecting the books from direct light and high temperatures. Due to high temperatures papers start getting dry and the gum starts peeling off from the spine. This makes the papers and spire brittle and there is a chance that it may be damaged during usage. The temperature for the library should be around 10-24 degrees celsius which is the ideal temperature for storing books. Hardcover books should also be covered with a slipcase so their cover can be protected and preserved for many years to come. Make sure the room is not too damp or humid.
