Many of us designers do not really use gradients in our design and we believe that they look flashy and do not make any impact. We stick ourselves to minimalism and forget to really play with colors. Flat colors are impactful in branding. However, if you are competing with other flat versions then you should come out of your comfort zone and consider something new to get the attention. Gradients can be appealing if everyone is showcasing flat designs. You can use gradients on artworks related to toys, ice cream, apparel brands, flower-selling shops, etc.
