I learned two foreign languages and both were completely different from each other. I started by reading books and gradually I found out that you need to first learn the vocabulary and then learn the basic tenses. Being with locals helped me a lot as I was exposed to many different words and sentences that I never read in the books. I started making notes in my notepad and I made two notebooks. One for vocabulary and the other one for tense-related sentences. This way I focused on both at the same time. This really helped me in learning and achieving an intermediate level. The key for me is repeating the same words again and again with the locals and these important words save permanently in my memory. Secondly, I revised words again and again by rereading thanks to my notepads. Notepads are still useful even in this digital age.
