I have learnt something new today. After getting a new debit card from the bank, I went straight away to buy something from the store and showed the contactless card to the machine. It did not deduct the money, and eventually, I had to use my old card. So, if you get a new card from the bank, you need to first withdraw some money from the ATM so it can work. Similarly, you can call your bank to open it for transactions and set a custom passkey for this card. I already knew these steps, but I had no idea that new cards need to be used once with the ATM, and then you can use their contactless feature. Moreover, you should buy a wallet that can prevent the information on the card from being leaked through some spy machines that can read card numbers.
