There are many different sizes used for office envelopes but the most demanding and preferred for stationery is a standard (#10) 4.125 x 9.5 inches size. Envelopes should be slightly bigger than the letter size so that tearing them from one side does not accidentally rip the documents inside. #10 envelope is used for official documents of A4 and legal size that can be folded into thirds. It is also used for invoices, billing, and bank cheques. Usually, it does not have any window on the face of the envelope so private, confidential, and legal papers can be used in this envelope.
