Many of the designers misunderstand roll fold and tri-fold. Roll fold is a brochure or leaflet with 4 or more pages. They are usually accordions and folds inside. On the other hand, tri-fold has two options one is z-fold and the other one is inner fold. Folding is the natural way of keeping the brochure compact and displaying it on the flyer stands. Many companies use gatefolds and place their most premium product inside and hide them with gatefolds so when the user opens both pages at the same time they would give their full attention to the hidden product. Tri-fold is usually made with US letter size paper which folds and makes a DL size. Both sides in total have 6 panels to display designs and the designer needs to first do some rough work before even starting a design.
