Perfect bound is a type of binding used for magazines, manuals, textbooks, and even multipage brochures. They are quite common because they are considered durable as compared to saddle stitch as there is always a chance that papers in the saddle stitch come out over time after being frequently handled by many people. On the other hand, perfect-bound needs to be pasted with quality adhesives so they can become durable. If the adhesives are not of good quality then magazines and even multipage brochures with paper bound can become loose. Magazines with fever pages such as under 48 can have saddle stitching. For magazines over 96 pages perfect binding is preferred because it gives a clean and professional outcome.
