Cotton swabs or cotton buds are usually considered to clean the ear wax but it is strictly not recommended by physicians and ENT doctors as the cotton swab pushes the ear wax further inside the ear instead of removing the wax. However, after taking a shower you can remove extra water to dry the start of the ear canal.
It does not mean that cotton swabs have no other usage. Cotton swabs can be used to remove makeup and do touchups. They can also be used to apply cream on affected skin such as eyelids if there is any dryness there. Many people do not like to apply the cream on their palms before applying it on the back of the band. They use cotton buds instead. Moreover, cotton buds are also used for household cleaning art, crafts, and paintings. Some women use these wads for touching up the nail polish that lands out of the nail.
